COVID-19 has caused many changes to our plans, our lifestyles, and of course our work. Our team was in the middle of our project’s discovery phase when social distancing began. This unexpected circumstance forced us to re-evaluate our research plan, so we decided to share our journey and some of our learnings.

On February 14th we had the opportunity to run a Sprint Zero meeting with a large group of OMAFRA staff. We gathered about 30 people in one of the conference rooms at 1 Stone rd. and spent the next three hours persuading our government partners to write their thoughts down on a mountain of sticky notes.

Our team has been posted to the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA). Specifically, we are working with the Agriculture Development Branch, and focused on crop protection.

As Code for Canada fellows one our driving goals is to demonstrate what's possible. What's possible when you design digital solutions, what's possible when you work in flexible and empowering ways, and what's possible when you give people and teams the freedom to experiment and be creative.
